Magical Ethics

There are many types of Magic in the world. And many people who will tell you they can teach it to you. Whatever path you chose to walk, remember that the greatest, most powerful Magic is made by the Spirit working through you. Without the Higher Power (in whatever form you choose to deify), all our incantations, candle burnings and charm carrying ways are just so much smoke and mirrors. Anyone who tells you that you can have the Magic without Spirituality is either a lying con artist to be avoided or a self-deluding fool to be pitied.
Never use Magic lightly. Great responsibility comes with the use of Magic. Magic shouldn't be the first course of action, rather it should be what you turn to when you have exhausted all other avenues. The Law of Cause and Effect (Karma) is very real. The energies you put out into the Universe are multiplied and returned to you. It is up to you what those energies are. Throughout my life, I have found that as long as I ask that what I am doing be for the good of all and be the Spirit's Will, rather than just mine, my Magical Workings are usually successful. When I have neglected this part of the Working, the results weren't what I desired.
I intend this Blog to be, among other things, a resource for those who are seeking knowledge about Witchcraft. I do not pretend to know all there is to know about witchcraft and Magic. I hope that those who are knowledgeable in areas where I am not will share their wisdom and experiences for the betterment of all of us who tread a Magical Path. I particularly want to reach out to the newer, younger people because many of them have no knowledge that hasn't come straight from some "Ding! You're a Witch!" book or some atrociously insulting movie or television program. My reason is that these people are the most highly visible of all of us and we are all tarred with the same brush. As practitioners of the Ancient Arts, we are often lumped together with these "witches" who think they are going to levitate if they can say "Light as a feather..." in just the right tone of intensity. Yes, it is unfair, but it is true. So, I say let's at least help steer them clear of the most obvious pitfalls and help keep them out of trouble, who knows - maybe the next generation's Merlyn just finished reading a Harry Potter book!
